³”empiricism” is a philosophical view that belongs to the philosophical discipline ”epistemology”, the study of human knowledge. It stresses the importance of experience for our knowledge; in particular the importance of experiments for scientific knowledge. Empirical thinking corresponds to the common sense philosophy of most physicists.
